Here's a quick list of very hip bike coops around the country and in Canada. It's not an exhaustive list, just representative of some variety. Find the list in the next set of comments...
SOPO - Atlanta http://www.sopobikes.org They have a very nice documentary telling their story. http://www.sopobikes.org/media/index
The Hub - Twin Cities Minneapolis/St.Paul http://thehubbikecoop.org/ They're "worker owned" and they also sell stuff.
The Bicycle Coop - Portland State University, Oregon http://www.bikeshop.pdx.edu/ A fairly typical model of a university bike coop model.
Ohio City Bicycle Coop - Cleveland, OH http://www.ohiocitycycles.org/ Very structured group. Nice website.
Durham Bike Co-op - Durham, NC http://www.durhambikecoop.org/ Simple operation.
Third Hand Bike Coop - Columbus, OH http://www.thirdhand.org/ Pretty close to our current operation. Worth checking out and where I stole some ideas for the bylaws.
The Bicycle Kitchen - Los Angeles http://www.bicyclekitchen.com/ There are several of these on the west coast; unaffiliated by modeled after this one. San Francisco, Sacramento, etc.
A community blog for members and other interested parties of the Broke Spoke Bike Coop in Traverse City, Michigan. Ride on ya'll!
How do I ride this thing?
Here's how it works: Main blog posts, (New Posts,) will appear in the pane to the left with newest posts on top. To add a comment to a post click the "comment" link at the bottom of that section. Your comment will NOT appear in the main reading pane. It will appear in the sub-panes under the post itself. There are two ways to find comments to a post: 1. Click the main post title - that will open up that thread entirely. 2. Go to the Post Archive list below and look for your thread.
