Minutes by Alita Townsend, Broke Spoke Meeting, January 19th
1. How should we organize? What positions should be held to maintain the logistics of Broke Spoke? For coop organizing? A. Web/Outreach 3. Shop organizer/garage manager These roles are outlined with the following tasks: 1. Treasurer/Secretary- banking, membership upkeep, email contact, minutes, thank yous, web information updates, meeting coordination 2. Web/Outreach- event upkeep, poster/design delegation, news correspondence 3. Shop organizer/garage manager- garage upkeep, maintenance, skill builder workshop coordination Based by voluntary commitment, the following members are the 2008 Broke Spoke representatives (respectively to the roles listed above). 1. Deb Samuel 2. Lou Blouin 3. Denis Bean-Larson
2. What is the long term vision for Broke Spoke? A. Create a Steering Committee: Bill Palladino offered to facilitate a strategic organizing meeting to form the structures and procedures for the coop--most urgently, forming some idea of a mission statement. The attendees agreed this is a great first step and that big plans, elections, projects, etc will naturally follow. Bill will send out a mass email to the members with the date, time and place of this meeting. All are welcome to participate.
3. How should we fund raise for future projects and paying shop debt? A. Currently Broke spoke owes the following: i. 950.00 (tool set) $339.10 (table) $128.69 (table holder) $20.00 (dba) $1419.69 (owes to Higher Grounds) 205.25 (paid) $32.36 $32.36 (owes to Denis) Total owed= $1452.05 B. D. Memberships: Denis shared the Cherry Capital Cycling Club would be a great target for memberships…they have 200 plus members.
E. Film night: Denis is organizing a film night at the Inside Out Gallery for a fundraiser for bike caution signs to be put in TC limits. Broke Spoke could sell concessions for a fundraiser. F. The TART trail committee is working on a Bike week and asked for Broke Spoke involvement. To be discussed in the Spring.
